“American Idol” star Jordin Sparks is launching her first scent. The 20-year-old singer had affordability in mind in the concieving the new Because of You fragrance.

“When I was starting this project, I really wanted it to be affordable. I looked at some other celebrity fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that’s $80, and I can’t bring myself to spend that much,” Sparks says. “In this economy especially, my fans deserve a high quality, reasonably priced scent.”

The scent will retail at an introductory price of $9.50 for a 2.5-oz. bottle when it hits counters next week. It will then be sold at $14.95 on November 1. Because of You will be available at dots.com or Dots stores next week before it can be made available at Target stores in November.

The “Battlefield” hitmaker said that she also wants Because of You to “transfer easily from day to night,” describing it as a “fruity floriental” scent.
